In 2012, NC State University developed a budget to present the estimated costs of producing and harvesting tomatoes in the Southeast region of the United States. This budget is intended only as a guide. Growers should still plan on calculating their own costs and estimating their own breakeven yields. Costs and budgetary needs vary from operation to operation due to market conditions, labor supply, machinery and equipment, and many other factors.
